The CTSB/Articulab are currently hiring for the position of IS Architecture Engineer. This is a full-time, permanent university staff position, and hiring is managed by the university's human resources department. Current Opportunities - Spring 2009
3 Software Programmers sought, Virtual Peers Project [3 positions, $8-10/hour]: Help create graphical autonomous agents who engage children by telling stories and doing joint activities. Tasks include developing procedural animations and cognitive architectures, and making improvements to the graphics realization engine for the virtual peers. Applicants should have an understanding of computer graphics (taken a class in computer graphics) and experience with python and C++. Knowledge of communication protocols and sockets and GUI programming experience are a plus. Students will gain experience in AI, HCI, and Computer Graphics. Summer positions available. 3 Social Science Research Assistants sought, ALEX Project [3 positions, $8/hour]: Work with a team to analyze children's language and science skills. The results will serve as the basis for technologies to help children acquire science and language skills. Tasks will include coding videotapes of children interacting, annotating their language and nonverbal behavior, analyzing language and communication data, and collecting data in schools and after-school programs. Ability to work independently, good computer skills, and an interest in linguistics, communication studies, African American studies, psychology, education or related fields are a plus. These positions could serve as the perfect basis for an honors thesis in Comm. Studies, Psychology, SESP, or Linguistics.��� Summer positions are also available. 2 Social Science Research Assistants sought, Survey Interview Project [2 positions, $8/hour]: Work with a team to study and analyze face-to-face survey interviewing, so that we can develop new survey interviewing technologies. Tasks include running experiments, coding and analyzing data, and writing up results. Ability to work in a team, experience with statistics, and interest in psychology, communication, experimental research, or survey methods are a plus. 1 Transcriber sought, Teens and Technology Project [1 position, $8/hour]: Help discover how teenagers are using technology to make and keep friends. Listen to and transcribe audio recordings of interviews with teenagers discussing how they use the Internet, mobile phones, and other technologies in their daily lives.
